# How to search PDF attachments

To search for phrases in PDF attachments using Adobe Reader X, click Edit (1) -> Advanced Search (2).&#x20;

Click on the below image for a bigger display.

**Note**: The Advanced Search menu may appear in a different location in other PDF reader software and may also be labelled differently.

In the pop-up which appears enter your search phrase (3), check the Include Attachments check-box (4) and hit Search.

**Note**: The Include Attachments check-box is hidden at first, so you must click on the Show More Options action at the bottom of the pop-up.
