# java.lang.IllegalAccessError (Linux)

## **Description**

When running PDFC on Linux, you’re encountering an error similar to the following:

`java.lang.IllegalAccessError:` \
`Class com/swsoftware/codec/cmyk/CMYKJPEGImageReader`\
`(unnamed module 0x00000000C00DC9E0)` \
`can not access class com/sun/imageio/plugins/jpeg/JPEGImageReader(java.desktop)` \
`because module java.desktop does not export package com/sun/imageio/plugins/jpeg` \
`to module unnamed module 0x00000000C00DC9E0`

## **Solution**

The issue is related to new security restrictions introduced in the latest Java version.\
We recommend following the steps outlined in this HCL article: <https://support.hcl-software.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0118614>
